The offer
The offer
In full recognition of the carefully considered reasons behind the museum’s closure, and with deep respect for the process undertaken, we formally submitted The River Centre concept to CBRE and the River & Rowing Museum Trust for review.
As part of this process, and in line with the sales details, we are requesting an opportunity for the Council and the Trust to review our proposal. We are seeking the Council’s involvement in a potential purchase, ensuring that the long‑term solution for this important site directly reflects community needs and aspirations.
Grounded in the Financial Snapshot, our intention is to operate The River Centre as a sustainable, community‑serving business with a long‑term perspective. Supported by a fifteen‑year business plan, we ask the Council to consider the following options:
Option 1
The Council purchases the facility, and The River Centre repays the Council over a fifteen‑year period, with a long‑term nominal lease allowing the Centre to operate securely and sustainably.
Option 2
The Council purchases the facility and leases the building and land to The River Centre on a long‑term basis, enabling stability while keeping the asset in community stewardship.
Both options are centred on partnership, transparency, and a shared commitment to protecting a much‑loved local site for future generations. Our goal is to work collaboratively to create a space that continues to serve residents, nurtures creativity and wellbeing, and supports a thriving, inclusive community.
